Who handles Health Insurance TPA of India cashless requests
Health Insurance TPA of India is a third party administrator licensed by IRDAI. It does not insure anyone itself: it processes cashless requests and claims on behalf of the insurance companies that appoint it, mostly for group and public-sector policies. When the patient's health card names Health Insurance TPA of India, the pre-auth goes to Health Insurance TPA of India, which approves, queries or denies it for the insurer — and the insurer named on the policy pays the claim.
Documents to attach
- Pre-auth form signed by the patient (or attendant) and the treating doctor
- Health card / e-card of the policy serviced by Health Insurance TPA of India and the patient's photo ID
- Admission advice and the doctor's consultation notes
- Investigation reports that support the diagnosis (blood work, imaging, ECG as relevant)
- Cost estimate by head — room, surgeon, anaesthetist, OT, implants, medicines
- For an accident or injury: the MLC / FIR copy, or a note on why none was made
- For a planned surgery: earlier prescriptions showing when the condition was first diagnosed
Working with Health Insurance TPA of India
A TPA answers to the insurer that appointed it. If Health Insurance TPA of India does not respond, keeps repeating a query, or makes a deduction you dispute, escalate in writing to the insurer's provider desk and its grievance officer, quoting the pre-auth or claim number. The settlement amount is paid by the insurer on the policy, and a deduction by the TPA can be contested with that insurer.
Avoid a query
Most pre-auth queries come from three gaps: no duration of illness, no ICD-10 code, and a cost estimate given as one figure. The full field-by-field list is in how to fill a pre-auth form.
If Health Insurance TPA of India queries or denies the pre-auth
A query is not a rejection. Reply the same day, answering only what was asked, with the supporting document attached — see how to reply to a pre-auth query.
A cashless denial is not a claim rejection. The patient can pay, then file a reimbursement claim with the insurer through Health Insurance TPA of India within the policy's time limit — the denial is often reversed when the full hospital file is seen. If a claim is finally rejected, it can be reconsidered through the grievance officer, IRDAI's Bima Bharosa and the Insurance Ombudsman.
